Usher ft Will.I.Am - OMG

“They call me US-HER-RA-YM-OND….” and “You remind me of a girl that I once knew” but not forgetting the song that taught us how to do the thunder clap and rockaway with a R&B touch, “I said Yeah, Yeah…Yeah, Yeah” all these lyrics make up some of the biggest hits created by R&B superstar, Usher Raymond.

Having released his album ‘Here I Stand’ in 2008, and going on to spot the biggest pop star since the late Michael Jackson; Justin Bieber. Usher is back, with a new sound thanks to the auto-tonic/ pance (Pop-Dance) genius Will.I.Am.

This video has to be received with an open mind, this track shows Usher’s maturity as an artist, with him being able to change his sound but keep the Usher edge.

Released to national outlets on March 30th 2010.

I give you Usher ft Will.I.Am – OMG (The Official Video)

Peace, Love and OMG :O

Vex- Pour Some Hennessey

Formerly known as Vexman, the forest hill answer to (blank)…. Although I can’t seem to come up with a comparison don’t get me wrong, I haven’t heard such strong, passionate lyrics without containing a swear word in the longest of time. ‘Pour Some Hennessey’ is the brand new video released beside Vexes mixtape ‘Anger Management’ which is due to flood the roads late this month.

I’m not generally a Hennessey drinker, but this song contains such truth and lip releasing metaphors, I can’t help but love it, I see great things for this young south London boy, coming from nothing isn’t easy, but making yourself something is the hardest thing to achieve.

I present to you rap fanatics: Pour Some Hennessey – VEX 2010 (Anger Management)

Love, Peace and Hennessy

Nathan- Pass Out FREESTYLE RMX

South London singing sensation Nathan is back on the radar, from the days of ‘Come into my room’ to his newly released song ‘Caught me slippin’ featuring the likes of Flo-Rida. Nathan is back, and by the looks of it; staying here for good.

Currently ripping up the states, Nathan has come along way since that day when he met Alicia Keys, his charm, ambition and showmanship still remains; even if he isn’t willy bouncing.

It seems as if Nathan’s talents don’t just lie in his ability to hit a high note and stay in pitch, this Lewisham lad can also spit a couple bars, and if I must say; they are as hot as the sun right now.

Spitting a few rhymes over Tinie Tempah’s -Pass Out, I present Nathan doing his own thing whilst talking a visit to the RNG Show!

Peace, Love and Passsss Out

Shooting Star Poets

Gun and knife crime isn’t just affecting the lives of Londoners, but most recently the contagious culture has found its way towards the northern city of Liverpool and area of Merseyside. SAMM (Support after murder and manslaughter) have been supporting a group of six grime emcee’s and a female singer to create and release their debut single Campaign Time.

Due to the fact that such extreme and violent crime is on the increase in the area’s of Liverpool and Merseyside the group have come together under the umbrella of ‘Strummerville’ and committed themselves to change. Having all focused their energies on the positive attributes of their hometowns, the group have strategically targeted young people through their music. Although Shooting Star Poets are a northern based group, London emcees Trim and Obese also feature on this heartfelt rhythm.

Campaign Time is due for release on the 5th April 2010 and will be officially launched at Everton FC on the 31st March 2010.

Below you can watch the video for Campaign Time; regardless of the quality I suggest that you listen to the lyrics and be gobsmacked, for this group isn’t generic, but the message is.

Mariah Carey ft Nicki Minaj- Up Out My Face

So MiMi is once again providing a platform for yet another rapper, having previously worked with the likes of, Missy Elliot, Da Bratt and ODB who would blame her for seeing this opportunity and flying with it.

Nicki Minaj aka The Black Barbie has been the icon and influence for many women around the world, contagiously seeing these young ladies change their names and image. Size 6 waist and size 14 hips, easily brought, but not so easily executed.

I feel it’s my Diva Duty to present this new video by Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj called – Up Out My Face.

I hope you enjoy Lads and Ladettes.

Peace, Love and Pure satisfaction

Diva and the Magnificent Dynamo

Magic has always had a space in my oversized heart, possibly from childhood when my mum brought me the ultimate beginners guide to magic from our local Sainsbury’s. Going through life constantly hearing “let me work my magic” whether a dress maker, a doctor trying to cure a common cold, avoiding my allergies to medication or a guy trying to talk to me.

However Dynamo defines the definition of amazing. I witnessed a room of like minded people be shocked with Dynamo’s talent of illusions, card tricks and unexplainable talent, one person after another agreed that he makes the world wonder if ‘Jesus, was even that great’. An out of context statement? No way, I wonder if this Bradford town street magician is an evolved, reincarnated version of Jesus. In a time of hope, is Dynamo the prophet our world has been looking for? Check out his showreel and tell me what you feel.

I’d like to add, I have never seen something so real to the eye, but unreal to the spirit, meeting Dynamo has given me hope, listening to his story, seeing his progression. Amazement is an understatement to my emotions at this point.

Wiley- Now Hear This!

Two days into Twenty-Ten, Wiley releases this flow sacrificing, This-Is-Why-He-Is-The-KING war dub, strategically aimed at the industry’s high dred and no I’m not talking about Jammer, Big H and the well known village leader of grime, Trim.

Has Wiley spat too much saliva? No, not at all, this track has been on replay, not because it’s a sick, sick track, but I’m trying to grasp what the eski-king is saying. Have a listen for yourselves.

Twenty- Ten; The Year Of The Tiger!

Christmas 2009, could be considered one of the most memorable Christmas's of my adult life, being surrounded by great family members, friends and most of all, I feel as if I found out the true meaning of December 25th.

Growing up on the good side of the grime infested, rat bearing town of Catford, South East London, you don’t get given many chances to prove yourself before being written off, or disregarded in society like many before you, but having said that, there are people out there, waiting for you to realise your inner strength and capabilities and to see you on the good side of the grime, the life which awaits many; 2010 is where it all shall begin.

This post isn’t to vent my anger out on anyone specifically, but a mere platform for me to say, what I have to say, in a way that I enjoy, for words are my life, as music is to a composer.

January 1st 2010

I find that I have 40 New Year messages, three of those being personal, 37 broadcast messages, which 5000 Blackberry users copied from previous text messages. I can’t help but notice my twitter timeline is filling up with New Year banter, banter that will most probably be forgotten about by March. What seems to get me is, are we in the depths of insecurity that we need to assure others of our existence? Why must I broadcast my plans, for my future, when these plans affect only one individual directly; myself.

In 2010, we need to prosper, and make this year count. We all saw 2012 (the movie), how can we stop this from happening? The answer to this ridiculous question is, we are so beyond stopping this event as we live in an unpredictable land, we need to succeed, we need to learn to be who we are as individuals, we need to be OURSELVES.

In 2009, we saw many inconvenient and tragic deaths, varying from Michael Jackson to Jade Goody and Heath Ledger, these people were once normal people, as I and all of you; death waits for no one, so don’t sit around waiting for him/her to come knocking at your door. I have compiled ten easy steps to surviving 2010…

1) Save 30% of anything you get, understandably not everyone is in the financial situation where they are capable of saving 30%, but try, if this is too much of a chunk out of your student loan, wage or JSA, try and save 10% as it’s a percentage more than 2009.

2) Cook, many say that cooking is a long process, there’s not enough time in the day, but cooking is one of the fundamentals in life, how do you expect to survive on chicken nuggets and egg with chips, regardless of the protein and fibre content of these foods, cooking is fun, creative and a great relationship builder. (Every guy loves a girl who can cook, and every girl loves a guy who can cook.)

3) Don’t be too stush to think outside the box, I’m not saying for everyone to go down to their local charity shop, because there just not the same anymore, but there are many websites and market stalls which you can buy clothes from, at a much cheaper price. I went to the clothes show live and saw these exact MARKET STALLS selling their clothes at RETAIL and BOUTIQUE prices, Think, buy and RECREATE!

4) Inevitably as adults/ young people, we want to go out, shake a leg, and drink, the likes of Storm, Movida and Aura can now be brought to our living rooms in the form of house parties and small, intimate gatherings –the reason I say this, is because we all go out, spend unimaginable amounts of money, drink, pay for cabs and then realise that you have a hangover, cramp in your feet or legs, and you’re 100 pounds out of pocket. On the other hand, you could go to free entry events and drink on your way there!

5) Spotify, is a new platform for artists to have their music played, a free streaming player in which you have to be signed up to, it’s far more cost effective than Itunes, the downfall being, you can’t download for free, but you can listen to thousands of tracks, free of charge.

6) Relationships, if you’re a dedicated reader to the world of the PotBellied Diva (PBD) you’ll know that when it comes to relationships, I tend to go off on a tangent, but fear not! I’ve come to the conclusion that you can’t run from people running you down, It’s time to give the opposite sex a chance, men and woman alike have been through near enough identical issues in relationships, you have the confused ones, the crazy ones and the violent ones; on the other extreme you have the loved up ones, the sexual ones and the we-were-once-friends ones. Take time and let what needs to happen, happen.

7) Read more, knowledge is prevailed via words, someone can express something to you, but the information that they hold may not be accurate. Words are beautiful, we have hundreds of libraries, thousands of index’s at the tips of our fingers. Read more and gain the knowledge that you deserve.

8) Take up hobbies, with recent technologies being upgraded and made to be almost like a part of the family, is this what we truly need to overcome the depression after the recession? Hobbies allow you to socialise and maintain a healthy mentality, all in the same instance. I’m going to take up Yoga and Sign Language, for my mental stability and to improve my communication.

9) Eat FIVE a day!

10) DIY,  Do it yourself, if you’re not happy with the outcome of another person’s actions, do it yourself, don’t complain and keep it close to your heart, no man conquered the world alone, but one man can turn each conqueror against each other. (An example of society today.)

Peace, Love and Twenty- Ten
