Twenty- Ten; The Year Of The Tiger!

Christmas 2009, could be considered one of the most memorable Christmas's of my adult life, being surrounded by great family members, friends and most of all, I feel as if I found out the true meaning of December 25th.

Growing up on the good side of the grime infested, rat bearing town of Catford, South East London, you don’t get given many chances to prove yourself before being written off, or disregarded in society like many before you, but having said that, there are people out there, waiting for you to realise your inner strength and capabilities and to see you on the good side of the grime, the life which awaits many; 2010 is where it all shall begin.

This post isn’t to vent my anger out on anyone specifically, but a mere platform for me to say, what I have to say, in a way that I enjoy, for words are my life, as music is to a composer.

January 1st 2010

I find that I have 40 New Year messages, three of those being personal, 37 broadcast messages, which 5000 Blackberry users copied from previous text messages. I can’t help but notice my twitter timeline is filling up with New Year banter, banter that will most probably be forgotten about by March. What seems to get me is, are we in the depths of insecurity that we need to assure others of our existence? Why must I broadcast my plans, for my future, when these plans affect only one individual directly; myself.

In 2010, we need to prosper, and make this year count. We all saw 2012 (the movie), how can we stop this from happening? The answer to this ridiculous question is, we are so beyond stopping this event as we live in an unpredictable land, we need to succeed, we need to learn to be who we are as individuals, we need to be OURSELVES.

In 2009, we saw many inconvenient and tragic deaths, varying from Michael Jackson to Jade Goody and Heath Ledger, these people were once normal people, as I and all of you; death waits for no one, so don’t sit around waiting for him/her to come knocking at your door. I have compiled ten easy steps to surviving 2010…

1) Save 30% of anything you get, understandably not everyone is in the financial situation where they are capable of saving 30%, but try, if this is too much of a chunk out of your student loan, wage or JSA, try and save 10% as it’s a percentage more than 2009.

2) Cook, many say that cooking is a long process, there’s not enough time in the day, but cooking is one of the fundamentals in life, how do you expect to survive on chicken nuggets and egg with chips, regardless of the protein and fibre content of these foods, cooking is fun, creative and a great relationship builder. (Every guy loves a girl who can cook, and every girl loves a guy who can cook.)

3) Don’t be too stush to think outside the box, I’m not saying for everyone to go down to their local charity shop, because there just not the same anymore, but there are many websites and market stalls which you can buy clothes from, at a much cheaper price. I went to the clothes show live and saw these exact MARKET STALLS selling their clothes at RETAIL and BOUTIQUE prices, Think, buy and RECREATE!

4) Inevitably as adults/ young people, we want to go out, shake a leg, and drink, the likes of Storm, Movida and Aura can now be brought to our living rooms in the form of house parties and small, intimate gatherings –the reason I say this, is because we all go out, spend unimaginable amounts of money, drink, pay for cabs and then realise that you have a hangover, cramp in your feet or legs, and you’re 100 pounds out of pocket. On the other hand, you could go to free entry events and drink on your way there!

5) Spotify, is a new platform for artists to have their music played, a free streaming player in which you have to be signed up to, it’s far more cost effective than Itunes, the downfall being, you can’t download for free, but you can listen to thousands of tracks, free of charge.

6) Relationships, if you’re a dedicated reader to the world of the PotBellied Diva (PBD) you’ll know that when it comes to relationships, I tend to go off on a tangent, but fear not! I’ve come to the conclusion that you can’t run from people running you down, It’s time to give the opposite sex a chance, men and woman alike have been through near enough identical issues in relationships, you have the confused ones, the crazy ones and the violent ones; on the other extreme you have the loved up ones, the sexual ones and the we-were-once-friends ones. Take time and let what needs to happen, happen.

7) Read more, knowledge is prevailed via words, someone can express something to you, but the information that they hold may not be accurate. Words are beautiful, we have hundreds of libraries, thousands of index’s at the tips of our fingers. Read more and gain the knowledge that you deserve.

8) Take up hobbies, with recent technologies being upgraded and made to be almost like a part of the family, is this what we truly need to overcome the depression after the recession? Hobbies allow you to socialise and maintain a healthy mentality, all in the same instance. I’m going to take up Yoga and Sign Language, for my mental stability and to improve my communication.

9) Eat FIVE a day!

10) DIY,  Do it yourself, if you’re not happy with the outcome of another person’s actions, do it yourself, don’t complain and keep it close to your heart, no man conquered the world alone, but one man can turn each conqueror against each other. (An example of society today.)

Diva-Dence

tezzpoo

Over the past few months, we can all admit that financially, we’ve been in a zone that simply replicate the ghost towns, of the recent ambushed Afghanistan.

In due course we will overcome this terrible situation, we now call the recession, I tend to visualise it as, ‘the ghetto, getting bigger’ but let’s not get into that, so much more controversy can be caused. (If I want to, that is).

So down to the cream of the crop, or the cheese. Diva-Dence is nothing more than plain simple, sexy, oozing confidence. It’s not generic, so imitation isn’t a form of flattery when it comes to Diva-Dence .

There is and will always be people around you, who hope nothing more, than to see you fail –in each and every attempt you take to strive. These exact people should be forbidden from your life, especially if you notice the hatred they have towards you –how do you know if someone wants to see you fail?

You know if someone wants to see you fail when, they enjoy when you’re down, they don’t have wise words of encouragement, and they throw things back in your face –just to see you struggle.

But we all need to remember, how can someone make you feel bad about yourself, you’re not in a competition with your hearth and your brain, because when it comes down to it, the same blood is being circulated. We as individuals control how we feel about ourselves, therefore in hindsight we control how people feel towards us.

Confidence is an attraction, am I right? Diva-Dence however is irresistible.

Confidence can be quite obscure, you can act confident. But Diva-Dence is a lifestyle, it’s not being like Naomi or JLO, but it’s being YOURSELF. No one can eliminate your Diva-Dence and call it an act, because it’s how you are. How can someone tell you how to be? Isn’t individuality encouraged in society?

All I can continue to stress is, smile. And the day will be better. In these ironic, unfortunate times, we can’t afford to hate ourselves, if anything, we’re the one’s who we need to love.

For all those Confident Lads and Ladies out there. C’mon now! Diva-Dence is what you need.

Love, Peace and Diva-Dence

How About Love? Diva Style…..

With Scorcher recently releasing songs like, ‘Lipsin Ting’ and ‘I Invented Sex’. Love has been on the cranium.

We tend to hear our single friends complain about their relationship status, but on the other hand, we hear our friends who have the status (a lame excuse to have sex regularly, and not be bothered about it). Complain!

(Take this how you want to, but just because I have a bit more junk in my trunk, understand, that I know about Love).

To All The Singleton’s : We all want that special person, whether you’re heterosexual, homosexual or Megan Fox (bisexual). For the girls, you want that guy, the one that makes you cringe, smile and feel the most amazing butterflies.

Guys; well the last time I looked, I never had male genitals, so I think you should correct me if I have this wrong.

Guys, at first you want to just ‘buss a nut’. But deep down inside, you own a heart, somewhere between your balls and your throat. All you want, is an honest girl, let’s admit it, window shopping just isn’t the same anymore.

The problem we all face is, we’re never satisfied with what we have. We settle for less, and we moan when we don’t get enough, what do we want? In our little community, we’ve all seemed to link ourselves to, we have four types of guys, and four types of dolls.

GUYS: Thugs, Entourage, Mc’s and Box Boy. (The poor little guy, who is the target of all jokes).

GIRLS: Successful, Hoes, Groupies and Tag-a-longs. Which one does your name belong under?

Love, can’t be determined by the class system, you inaccurately put yourself in, that’s how all the problems in the world began. From the Apartheid, to the treacherous war of Somalia.

We can’t begin or continue to go against our hearts; good girls like thugs, but as attractive as his attitude is, or as good as his sex may be, the thug will act like a thug. And you’re heart is the broken one.

Guys are commonly going for girls who, wear 5000 coats of makeup, and their crutches replicate a sporting field, rather than the gap in the railing. –How dare one complain, when disappointment is a recurring fact of your life.

To get the dilly- dally, out of the way.

Go with what your heart says, not your influenced mind for, Beauty, Love and Life go together like chips and burger sauce, a perfect combination.

Peace, Love and Scorchers Lips.

Precious

We all think we’re the apple of our parent’s eyes, that we deserve all the good things that come to us almost not realising that hard work is needed; we all want to be considered Precious!

I saw the trailer for a film called Precious- presented by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, and I would like to say, I think this is a must see, I’d be lying to myself if I said this film didn’t hit me close to my heart, not because the main character Gabourey Sidibe is a larger than life lady, but because from what I’ve seen, Miss Carey-Cannon (Mariah) has also upped her devastating acting game since the poorly rated film Glitter.

I’ve also come to realise through a series of events that, I’m big and I’m beautiful, you may be small and sleek or a bit meaty but fashionable, my advice is just be yourself, whether you’re hated by your sworn enemy, or you’re insecure about the environment in which you choose to be associated with.

Well here’s the TRAILER

I hope you enjoy, and I hope I’ve sparked the anticipation from deep within the pits of your stomach.

Peace,Love and We’re All Precious
